It sits 850 kilometres to the west of the capital of Australia, Canberra.

While there's lots to do to keep the kids happy, you will also find a collection of more grown-up pursuits. There are a few places in town to gather and enjoy yourself, such as the Cape Thomas Wines. Stops at the Frog Island Wines and the Wehl's Mount Benson are also highly recommended.

You may find a few seashells to add to your collection as you enjoy a walk along the coastline at Long Beach.

You don't need to be stuck inside a car all day to witness a bit of nature around these parts. Just 18 kilometres out of Mount Benson, Little Dip Conservation Park is a superb place to sit back and unwind. More picturesque surrounds await at Pool of Siloam, 45 kilometres away.

If you're contemplating expanding your horizons, head 13 kilometres south to Robe. It's here you'll come across the Robe Golf Club and Obelisk Robe. We also recommend going to Wangolina, 16 kilometres to the north, for the Cape Jaffa Wines and the Ralph Fowler Wines.

Beachport is situated 40 kilometres from Mount Benson and is an exciting part of the local region. Surrounding sights include the Beachport Old Wool and Grain Store Museum, the Beachport Golf Course and Canunda National Park. Got more time to kill? Beachport Jetty and Beachport Conservation Park are also within reach.

When you want to release the adventurer within, get involved in some hiking. That said, there aren't many better ways to see the wonders of the local area than with a bit of four-wheel driving.
