Can't keep those feet still? If you're nodding in agreement, then take off and explore the wider Nagano region. Don't even think of heading home without stopping at some of the region's incredible forests, lakes and mountains. Ruins, castles and traditional villages are also worth a look around. Travellers with a good appetite for adventure can also enjoy a little snowboarding in this part of Japan.

You'll also be able to check out the Zotaku-ji Temple and the Komagane Silk Museum.
