Spain's capital city, Madrid, sits around 320 kilometres to the south of Mirones.

Sitting 95 kilometres to the west, Gulpiyuri Beach is a fabulous spot to spend a bit of time scanning the horizon for ships. Camello Beach also boasts some pleasant views. You'll find this piece of coastline 20 kilometres to the west.

Travel beyond the confines of Mirones and you'll find some wonderful natural sights. Just 35 kilometres away, Caves of Altamira is a brilliant place to unwind in the fresh air. You also can't lose with Cabarceno Natural Park, 13 kilometres away from Mirones.

Travel 20 kilometres north to El Sardinero Stadium to catch a gripping live game of soccer. Located in Santander, the venue is the home of the Racing de Santander, so kit yourself out in green, white and black and get ready for some fun!

If your journey happens to coincide with a solid dump of snow, you'll see many local powder hounds packing up their cars for some teeth-chattering thrills at Alto Campoo Ski Resort.

Miera, 2 kilometres to the southwest, is popular for the Fluviarium Lierganes and Los Machucos. Why not find your way there and see these wonderful sights? Or, you could head to Lierganes, 7 kilometres to the northwest of Mirones, for Parque de la Naturaleza de Cabarceno and Palacio de Elsedo.

Plan on going to Santander? This destination is 20 kilometres to the northwest. If you're staying here a little while, get a map and circle the University of Cantabria, Palacio de la Magdalena and Somo Beach. Also consider stopping by Magdalena Beach and Santander Cathedral.
