Been up 'til dawn way too often lately? Desperate for a break and a few early nights? Minnesota City has your name all over it. It's set among the forests of Southeast Minnesota — nice and off the well-worn tourist trail. (We reckon you'll feel so relaxed, you'll be under the covers by sunset!)

It lies 1,350 kilometres to the west of Washington, the capital of United States of America.

Fill your lungs with fresh, clean air and gaze at the natural surroundings of Sugar Loaf. It's located 17 kilometres away from Minnesota City. You'll also discover some peace and quiet at Brady's Bluff, 25 kilometres away.

Catch the chairlift at Welch Village Ski Area, soak up the snow-capped scenery and then shred your way back to the lodge. For even more icy thrills and spills, see what's on offer at Mount La Crosse Ski Area.

Interested in swinging by John Latsch State Park and Prairie Moon Sculpture Garden? They're near the middle of Buffalo City, 13 kilometres to the northwest. Alternatively, you could head to Winona. It's 19 kilometres to the southeast of Minnesota City and known for the Cedar Valley Golf Course and the St. Mary's University of Minnesota.

You may have the urge to set up base in La Crescent for a bit. This place is 50 kilometres to the southeast and quite close to Riverside Park, the City Brewery and Pettibone Park. Some other nearby sights are Hixon House and the La Crosse Queen Cruise Dock.
