It's time to stop living through your friends' overly-filtered travel pics. With stacks of hotels in Managua on offer, it's easy to get your own envy-inducing holiday on. Did someone say 'spoiled for choice'?
After checking out all the sights, kick back in bed with a movie at Crowne Plaza Managua or the Hotel Mansion Teodolinda. They're both a hop, skip and jump away from the middle of the action. The Hotel Europeo and the Hotel Mozonte are also worth a look in.
The neighbourhood of Villa Fontana is just 4 kilometres away from the centre of town. Nevertheless, if you're going to rest your head here, you better get to it! The only available hotel is the Hotel Sueños del Angel.
If you're seeking ways to relax or fit in some exercise, check out Japones Park. The Real InterContinental Managua at Metrocentro Mall and Hotel Seminole should definitely be on your accomodation hit list if you don't want to travel far to see it. For some serious shopping, spend an afternoon at Metrocentro. You can visit it whenever you like, especially if you stay at the Hilton Princess Managua and Holiday Inn Managua - Convention Center.
Let's face it, lots of people who travel don't like blowing their hard-earned cash on posh hotels. The good news is, Managua has a pretty decent range of budget accommodation options that you're gonna love. Pandora Hostel and Esgueva House are two of the most convenient options. Hostal Doña Ida and Vida del Mar Beach and Golf Resort are some more affordable options worth investigating.
After more options? The Hacienda Puerta Del Cielo Ecolodge & Spa is positioned 30 kilometres away from the downtown area, and the Apoyo Resort & Conference Center is 35 kilometres away. The Hotel Contempo, 10 kilometres away, and the Hotel Casa Naranja, 3 kilometres away, are some alternate choices.
If you're a proud carrier of the wanderlust gene (well duh, you're here right?), then we're pretty sure you'll want to check out more of the Western Nicaragua region. Outdoorsy types should check out Managua's incredible beaches, coastal plains, forests and rivers. A few other must-see sights to put on your hit list are old towns, historic palaces and churches. More active types can also try their hand at mountain climbing, hiking and caving.
Don't skedaddle before you've checked out the Mirador and El Calvario Church in Masaya. If you want to spend a few nights in Masaya, look into the Pacaya Lodge & Spa and Hotel Ivania's. 40 kilometres to the southeast of Managua you'll also find Granada, home to the Hotel La Mar Dulce and Hotel Xalteva. If you're staying in Granada, set aside some time to check out Islets of Granada and Capilla del Sagrado Corazón.
Knackered after your flight? Need somewhere half decent to stay but think 11 kilometres from Augusto C. Sandino International Airport to the centre of Managua is just waayyy too far? Relax. The Airport X Managua Hotel is pretty close and has your name all over it!
