Do you spend more time daydreaming than actually doing your job? Catch yourself flicking through old travel pics far too often? Time for a Lasa escape. Hotels in Lasa's centre are pretty thin on the ground. But if you're okay with a short drive, you can comfortably stay in one of the 6 digs within 10 kilometres of the centre.

If you want to stay as close as possible to the action, the Garden Park Hotel and Aktiv- & Wellnesshotel Zentral are top choices.

Looking for more options? The Hotel Paradies is situated 15 kilometres away from the downtown area, and the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten is 8 kilometres away. The Ortles, 30 kilometres away, and the Rosa degli Angeli, 30 kilometres away, are some further alternatives.

After more options? Live it up like a rockstar in Stelvio (just try not to wreck the joint). Bormio is located 25 kilometres from Lasa and has a population of 4,000. When you're here, you'd be crazy if you didn't have a look at Fontana Longa - Valbella, Ciuk - Laghetti and Santa Caterina. Chiesa di San Vitale and the Bormio 2000 - Cima Bianca Gondola are a couple more attractions which are sure to offer up some envy-inducing photo ops. Bormio offers accommodation options to suit most budgets and tastes, such as the Eden Hotel and Sottovento Luxury Hospitality.

Having been scrunched up in a cabin seat for hours, a nice comfy bed at the Four Points by Sheraton Bolzano will be bliss! If that doesn't quite cut it, try the Hotel Business Resort Parkhotel Werth. Both are within easy reach of Balzano Airport, which is 55 kilometres from the centre of town.

Very basic, uncomfortable bed, room never got warm, curtains don’t close and the desk was not suitable to work on as it didn’t even fit a laptop on. Breakfast was very minimal - just a couple of bread rolls and cakes. Staff were rude on check out - raising his voice at me as he explained he was charging 40 euros extra for my daughter’s breakfast. Clearly he made up the price as one bread roll and a glass of water for 40 euros is ridiculous. Overall barely a 3 star - don’t expect friendly service or a breakfast you want to eat again. Stayed all over Bormio and this was the worst.
