Overall it was a 2/10. There was a lot of mold in the actual room and around the property. The excursions were not worth the price. We went to the scape park boat ride and the staff was very immature and inappropriate. We had children and women there but they did not seem to care. Most importantly, when the boat stopped so we could all get in the water, my wife placed her wedding ring along side 5 additional rings in a sealed small bag within her sealed large tote bag. And when we got back, all of the rings were there except for her large wedding ring. When we confronted the boat captain, “Chicken” or “Pollo” him and his board hand stated that they had no idea where the ring went.. we all “including children saw her place the ring in the bag, even the crew! But when we checked, it disappeared and the captain stated that we must of dropped it into the sea?? Truly the audacity. We filed a report with the excursion representative at the hotel and they said that since they are a third party that there was nothing that they can do. Our trip was already not going too good because of the conditions of the hotel but the experience at the excursion had all of us fuming. I always heard about these things happening to people in DR and to that point we should have just kept the ring in the safe, but it should have also not been taken, “allegedly”. Also food was mid at best, but you can gauge that however you will.

It’s a beautiful facility. But it’s in need of upgrades. The beds are terrible and the decor from the 80s. Housekeeping didn’t provide clean sheets and I had to request changes twice, including once because there was blood stains on the sheets. The staff are amazing in other areas, from the bars to pool to dining buffets. At the gym, Pedro was very helpful and provided training tips. The food was delicious and the staff were very attentive. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning. It’s not a truly five-star resort.

Stayed here with a friend. Pros - Staff was friendly and welcoming, especially the entertainment staff. They were hilarious and kept the energy high every day. Bar and buffets right on the beach. Everything was clean. Cons - hotel is definitely dated, on the older side. Our water was cold for our entire stay, we complained every day but it was never fixed so we took cold showers the entire time. Food was mid (to be expected at an all inclusive), restaurant food was better than the buffet but hard to get reservations. Power would go out 1-2x every day only for about a minute or two at a time but it was a bit unsettling at night as everything would go pitch black. The beach water is a bit murky but still swimmable. Be careful though as both my friend and I got stung by jellyfish in the water (of course not the properties fault). Overall a decent stay but I’m sure there is better out there for the money you’re going to pay.

The hotel is in need of an update because it's already quite worn out. The staff works hard to maintain cleanliness, gardening, the grounds, and maintenance, but eventually, if there aren't major changes, it won't be a place of interest to visit. The biggest problem they have is the beach, which has been experiencing serious problems with jellyfish for years, to the point that visitors can't get into the water without fear of being painfully attacked by them. According to local residents and even workers, this wasn't the case before; instead, it was caused by the construction of a small island far from the beach to control the waves, along with other huge bags placed around the beach on the left side. This prevents the ocean current and eliminates the waves that helped clean the entire beach. Now, the beach has very murky water caused by the mouth of the adjacent river, which deposits sediment. It's also stagnant, with no waves, and an overpopulation of jellyfish. Many of the visitors were very upset about not being able to enjoy the beach, which was the main reason they visited the place, bringing their children and family. They were even protesting because it's false advertising with a photo of a beach that no longer resembles the color or can be enjoyed, and because this major problem of jellyfish on the beach is nowhere mentioned. Everyone is reduced to the option of staying by the pool or paying for excursions to other beaches. The food and the staff was good!

The hotel needs overall needs updates but the staff is absolutely amazing. Hugo that works at the buffet took care of us all week, he works the breakfast and dinner shift, Jose Manuel is also super amazing and Luis at the pool bar makes you feel like family. The food is good and the El gourmet restaurant was our favorite.

We would have rated as excellent because staff and food were great.,Pedro at the Gym was very professional. Unfortunately the privilege club was the bad part of our staying. We pretty much spent more than two hours trying to tell them repeatedly that we were not interested and more finance persons were coming to the table to convince us to became a member. They are trying to sell a type of time share/vacation packages without any legal documents or set brochure prices.It is a shame and bad look for Bahia Principe that Privilege Club membership is a scam.
