After pressing that snooze button a couple of times (you're on holidays, after all!), drag yourself out of bed at Ryokan Sumiya Kihoan and Oreno Hotel in KYOTO - Adults Only and you'll find yourself in Kyotanba in no time.

You could also think about staying at the Keizankaku, which is 25 kilometres from central Kyotanba. The Yunohana Resort Suisen is a second option, just 25 kilometres away.

Don't shoot through before you've checked out the Sakanatchi Museum and Iwataki Onsen in Miyazu. If you want to spend a night or two in Miyazu, look into the rates at the Seikiro Ryokan Historical Museum Hotel and Miyazu Royal Hotel. 45 kilometres to the northeast of Kyotanba you can also stay at Obama, which is home to the Sun Hotel Yamane and Wakasa No Yado Wakasafugu Kani No Hotel Sekumiya. Whether you're shooting through or staying in Obama, set aside some time to visit the Tentokuji Temple and Uriwarinotaki Falls.

Sitting 50 kilometres from Kyotanba is Otsu, a regional hub with a population of 300,000. It's home to some great attractions, like Pieri Moriyama Mall, the Sagawa Art Museum and the Mizunomori Water Botanical Garden. Lake Biwa Bridge and the Lake Biwa Museum are a few more which are sure to offer up some choice photo ops. Otsu offers accommodations that should suit most tastes and budgets, such as the Biwako Ryokusuitei and Biwako Hotel.

Caught the last flight into Kyotanba? Feeling absolutely jaded? Then it's probably a sensible idea to find somewhere to stay within cooee of the airport. The Fine Garden Toyonaka Osaka Interntl Airport - Adults Only and the Reftel Osaka Airport Hotel aren't too far from Itami Airport, 50 kilometres from the centre of town.
