Make your way 55 kilometres northwest and you'll find yourself in Nikko, a regional centre with a population of 16,000. While you're checking out this neck of the woods, you'll be able to whip out your camera and get your tourist on at Akechidaira Plateau, Kegon Waterfall and Kanmangafuchi Abyss. Why not also explore Iemitsu Mausoleum and Lake Chuzenji? There are numerous great hotels where you can score a cosy room for a couple of nights in Nikko.
