Large bedroom and recently modernised en-suite. All clean and tidy. Nice and warm (4 day stay in January). Breakfasts were excellent and the food available for the evening meals in the pub part of the hotel was also good. All of the staff were warm, friendly and helpful. The car park is big. Breakfast does not start until 7.30am. You order it from the menu the night before and it was always ready for 7.30 for me, but I was there on business it left me quite tight for getting to my meeting elsewhere on time.

Checked in and advised last orders for food in the bar was 19:00 so went down at 18:45 ordered a drink and then got totally ignored by the 2 members of staff for about 10 minutes and was then advised that they would not be able to serve any further food so ended having to go to a local pub.
In the room the central light fitting over the bed was that low that the top of the lampshades was below eye level, it was that low that if you sat on the bed you could not see the TV. For some reason they have decided to fit an emergency light, normally used for over external staircases in the room to the standby led light was that bright that it lit up all the room which kept me awake most of the night, obviously it had caused someone else an issue too as it was hanging off the ceiling.
Breakfast was another joke, you have to order the night before from a preprinted sheet. I am not into eggs florentine and things like that, all I wanted was a couple of poached eggs and some toast but that was not available. When I went down the next morning there was a buffet table with juices and cereals but no spoons to eat it with and no staff to ask for one.
Overall the hotel itself is not to bad but it needs attention to detail, consideration with how the rooms are decorated so that they are functional and not just decorated to look good and they need to seriously pay attention to how the staff interact with the guests as they need a lot of training.
I would not stay again nor recommend it.
We have stayed. before over the years. It was good to see that it has been refurbed , plus the evening meals are better, for us it is convenient and we will stay again
The room was good, food was good , beer was expensive, offers available for food and drink for 2 people, double bed was a let down, 2 single mattresses put together wasnt very comfortable.
Managed to get booked into here after returning from holiday so we could visit family whilst in the area, the hotel were great allowed us to book in at 11am rather than 16.00. Immaculate room.
very noisy room above bar lounge and manager refused to move us. beds old and saggy. disco below us until midnight so we had to stay out until it had finished. this is a pub with rooms and not a hotel. bed bug trap under the bed !!!!
The only poor thing was the Internet which was sky cloud I open an account after it takes all my info and then when try to log in it says not recognised try with different emails and got same result. Other than that it was good for the price
The room was comfortable and clean, besides the lamp above the bed, when turned on you can see dead insects… not great.
The evening meal was good and I payed 5£ for the continental breakfast. I stayed over for a business trip and therefore went to sleep early. At 9.30pm I was awakened by knocking on the door with the arrival of my breakfast. This is not acceptable to know I on a guests door at this time of night.
Moving forward I suggest that breakfast is delivered a lot earlier.
Once woken up there was a lot of banging doors up until about 12. Very bad night sleep.

Hotel fine - just don’t arrive hungry…
Slightly tired looking but functionally Ok. Main disappointment was food provision. Despite checking in at about 8.32 pm I was told flatly that food finished at 8.30.
Breakfast was then just a cold option as the kitchen didn’t open until 10 which wasn’t clear in the booking.
Overall hotel was clean and comfortable enough - just don’t arrive hungry!
