Over meetings that last forever? How about that awkward water cooler chit-chat? Say buh-bye to work and take a break in Howrah, a neighbourhood in the state capital, Hobart. If you're up for meeting the locals while on the road, Hobart is full of potential new BFFs. Around 220,000 people call this city home. Howrah is 6 kilometres east of the centre of the city. If you're coming in from Hobart International Airport, jump into a taxi and drive 10 kilometres to the southwest.

This city is brimming with awesome things to do, and many of them are found near Howrah. It's not easy to pick the best sights, but the Cascade Brewery and theatre Royal are two you shouldn't miss out on. The have-to-see sights of the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens and St. David's Cathedral are also on your doorstep. A good way to better understand this city is to check out a few of its neighbourhoods. So why not head to nearby Rokeby and Mornington and discover their unique charms?

If you're on the hunt for some first-rate sights not far from the city centre, there's plenty of choice. One of the best is Mount Nelson Lookout.

You never know what you'll uncover when exploring the eclectic collections of the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, the Mawson's Huts Replica Museum and the Australian Army Museum Tasmania. If you don't want to miss a thing, see if you can hop on a guided tour.

Children are often wonderful travel mates, particularly if you go to fun places! For a memorable family outing, head to Hobart Aquatic Centre, the State Library of Tasmania and the Allport Library and Museum of Fine Arts.

Nothing beats indulging in some retail therapy. Grab your wallet and make your way to Eastlands Shopping Centre and Salamanca Market.

You never know what truths will be revealed at Franklin Square, the University of Tasmania, Government House and the Maritime Museum of Tasmania. These time-weathered sites have plenty of stories to share.

"Great venue for a one night stop, with good pub/restaurant on site. Plenty of parking, quiet comfy room, the only negatives were check in wasn't manned and I had to queue behind a big group ordering food in the pub to speak to a member of staff and then had to wait for the duty manager to be called ..."
