While most people get a shot from the top of the cliffs with a bit of scrambling along the rocks (much easier when the tide is lower) you can get to this vantage point.
Hornsby Lighthouse! About 10 minute walk from the carpark. Great for sunrise! Would of loved some clouds in the shot but had to make do. Nice quiet spot to start the morning.
Last shot of the morning!
Top down view of the flower people seem to love best of all the flower pictures I took in Australia. The base layer is patterned with broad, long, rounded tip petals that stick way out and lay down away from the flower some allowing the coloring of the next layer to stand out from the surroundings. The next layer is a dramatic layer of very spiked petals emerging from a green center and starting with a deep violet coloring that abruptly changes to white and again to lavender. Inside the green is a ring of violet dots centered in the green. At the very core is a layer of white. From the white emerges a layer of tiny spikes that angle around the center and are violet in color. This core has a green single stem that emerges from it that then splits into a branched pattern of five petals, each tipped with what looks like a tiny green bean edged in yellow. Out of the center arises yet another layer - a pattern of three branches, all violet in color and with a rounded knob at the end. The base layer has 10 petals. The green layer half of that. The pattern breaks with the violet layer. It only has three, but given the boldness of the color, it works and it much better than continuing to half the pattern. Think the dramatic difference in the colors of each layer helps the patterns pop on this flower. #Patterns
Of all the pictures I've taken of flowers around Australia, people seem to love this flower the best. While it comes in a red variation, the white seems most loved. The base layer is patterned with broad, long, rounded tip petals that stick way out and lay down away from the flower some. The next layer is a dramatic layer of very spiked petals emerging from a green center and starting with a deep violet coloring that abruptly changes to white and again to lavender. Inside the green is a ring of violet dots centered in the green. At the very core is a layer of white. Out of the center arises yet another layer - a pattern of three branches, all violet in color and with a rounded knob at the end. So many patterns and the reason it is so dramatic, although the colors do help as they call out the patterns. #Patterns
