Holidays in Hidden Valley

Stop getting jealous over your friends' travel pics and start taking your own in Hidden Valley. A fabulous 'hood in the Northern Territory capital of Darwin, you'll want to kick yourself in the pants for not going there sooner. Eager to meet a few locals? Shouldn't be a problem. Around 130,000 people live in Darwin. Hidden Valley is 7 kilometres east of the centre of the city. If you're coming in from Darwin International Airport, find a taxi and drive 5 kilometres to the southeast.

Hidden Valley is a sightseer's wonderland. Many of the city's best attractions are dotted near this interesting neighbourhood, including Bicentennial Park and Parliament House. You should also be sure to stop by the Crocosaurus Cove and the Charles Darwin University. For a fresh perspective on Darwin, take off to East Arm and Winnellie, close-by neighbourhoods just waiting to be discovered.

The area's various cultural attractions, such as the 24HR Art, the Maningrida Arts & Culture and the Chung Wah Temple, have to be seen!

Kids can often have the best time in rather unusual locations. Take your camera and capture the moments at Darwin Waterfront, the Darwin Deckchair Cinema, Indo Pacific Marine and the Northern Territory Library.

If you're travelling with children, they'll love a couple of hours at one of the close by fun-filled attractions. Wave Lagoon and Holmes Jungle Nature Park are brilliant places for them to expend their energy.

Nothing beats splashing out on some retail therapy. Give your credit card a workout at Smith Street Mall, Parap Village Markets and Lyons Cottage.

Government House, the Darwin War Memorial and the WWII Oil Storage Tunnels have so many stories to tell. History nerd or not, you'll be sure to learn something at these weathered, old sites.

Local spiritual sites, such as Christ Church Anglican Cathedral Darwin and St Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Cathedral, give you the opportunity to reflect in a peaceful setting.

Few things compare to the exhilarating atmosphere that is live Australian rules football (AFL)! Coincide your stay with one of the big events that are often on at TIO Stadium.
