Very good

The hotel is dated.and tired; the service is poor. Our non-smoking room was previously a smoking room, so it smelled like a working men's club from the 1970s. But worst of all, the price of the room was ridiculously expensive.

It was a nice stay but it wasn’t the cleanest, cob Webbs were all round the dining area and the food and drinks seemed to cost a lot which put us off eating there. The meals we did have were nice though. I think it just needs a bit of modernising.

Weekend break
The room was comfortable and clean although rooms were not serviced during stay. If you wanted beds made etc. you needed to hang a sign on your door. My room had no sign. As I was only there for two nights, this didn’t bother me except that milk and tea/coffee was not replenished.
Rooms were a bit dated, but a good size. Bathroom quite compact and it was awkward getting into the bath for a shower as I am an older guest and not very agile. Overall a nice place and very friendly staff.

Breakfast was simply awful. Most of the full english had obviously been sitting on a hot plate for a very long time. Bacon was like rubber. One tiny wrinkled, tasteless sausage. My wifes scrambled egg was greasy and had a strange smell. It was so bad she couldnt face the rest of the breakfast.
Manager was full of apologies but refused to refund one breakfast.
Lovely room (at a good price). Getting the right temperature in the shower was difficult. The replacement of towels each day is not eco-friendly. The fact that the restaurant was not available on a Sunday evening was very inconvenient.
Hickstead hotel is very welcoming and a home from home. All the double rooms are extra spacious compared to peer hotels, with the added benefit of dining table and business desk…ideal for business travellers. Luxurious and comfortable King size beds! Highly recommended.
Very nice hotel with lovely staff on reception. The room was very big with a table and chairs and was in good decorative condition. What spoilt it for me was the noise coming from the next door room which went on until 1.30am.

Breakfast really overpriced for what you get, the property is in the middle of nowhere, nice staff and value for money if u just need a place to stay for the night
My husband has to use a walker, they even put a ramp in s that he could get in the bar. I have never stayed anywhere the staff were so friendly without being pushy. Our dogs were made welcome, I cannot speak highly enough for them.
Absolutely abysmal.Worst nights sleep ive had this year.people shouting each other down the corridor talking very loudly outside my room this happened 7 times throughout the night.I left the hotel more exhausted than when i arrived.Couldnt order food or drink as no-one manning the bar waited 10 mins then gave up.The bed wasn't very comfortable. If you want a quiet comfortable night book somewhere else.
The hotel is overpriced for the standard of the rooms. The Rooms are very basic, and the bathrooms are in poor condition. very uncomfortable pillows too!
