Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte is one of the most important cities in Sri Lanka, and it is within an easy commute of Hanwella. You'll find it around 20 kilometres to the west.

Be on the lookout for seashells to start a collection or try to spot small animals like starfish and seabirds at Negombo Beach and Bentota Beach. You'll find these attractive coastlines 45 kilometres and 55 kilometres away, respectively.

Mother Nature's artwork is on show in many places around Hanwella. Just 25 kilometres away, Beira Lake is a great place to start. Katugas Ella Falls sits 40 kilometres away and is another delightful spot for some peace and quiet.
