To get a real feel for the city (and avoid FOMO), get yourself to Haicang — a neighbourhood located 20 kilometres to the southwest. You'll be exploring its streets before you know it if you plan to arrive by air. The neighbourhood is a journey of 15 kilometres to the west from Xiamen International Airport, the nearest terminal.

Xiamen Tianzhu Mountain Tourism Scenic Spot and Nitto Park are two must-see attractions, and as luck would have it, they're close by. You should also think about a detour to the Jimei Cultural Arts Center and Yongze Hall Lin's Cemetery.
