Holidays in Gromo

Sick of scrolling through other people's holiday snaps while wolfing down your brekkie? Then book a trip to Gromo and start your days among the awesome rural landscapes, rivers and lakes of Lombardy.

It's situated close to two of the country's best cities. Travel 130 kilometres to the north to explore the busy streets of Vaduz. Alternatively, go north 170 kilometres to Bregenz.

Nembro is only 30 kilometres to the southwest and is home to some excellent sights. Palazzo della Ragione and Piazza Vecchia alone will make the trip worthwhile. If you're still not convinced, you should also take a look at the Carrara Academy Gallery.

Plan some time to enjoy a sunset at Piona Beach, 50 kilometres to the west.

Mother Nature's handiwork can be witnessed around Gromo. Just 35 kilometres away, Monte Isola is a superb place to begin. Parco dei Colli di Bergamo sits 35 kilometres away and is another favourite spot to find some peace and quiet.

Deck yourself out in blue and black and watch the Atalanta Bergamasca Calcio in action at their home ground, Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia. Located 35 kilometres away in Bergamo, you can also go and encourage the Unione Calcio AlbinoLeffe.

Spend the day alternating between the freshly groomed pistes and a glowing fire at Arosa Ski Resort and Parsenn Ski Resort. From newbies to pros, there's something for everyone at these snow-covered wonderlands.

You'll discover even more just down the road. Valgoglio, 2 kilometres to the northwest, is popular for the Alta Valseriana Ethnographic Museum and Clusone. Alternatively, if Parrocchiale di Ognissanti Church and Chiesa di San Tomè sound better to you, head 4 kilometres southwest from Gromo to Ardesio.

Whether it's for shopping or to take in the sights, travellers often make their way over to Foppolo, 16 kilometres to the northwest. Foppolo Ski Resort, Camoscio and Siltri are close by. That said, you shouldn't pass up Brembo Ski and the IV Baita either.

Before you say "Arrivederci" to Gromo, check your pockets for spare change that you can spend on some last-minute memorabilia.

When you're set to fly back home, allow yourself plenty of time to reach Orio Al Serio Airport (BGY). Sitting 40 kilometres to the southwest from Gromo, this is the closest terminal.
