Only thing nice about this Hotel (Hostel) was the staff. Breakfast very bad, coffee not drinkable, no facilities whatsoever, very old and dated, very noisy, was more like a Hostel, no tea/coffee machine in rooms, Wouldn’t return

Good location, with balcony, no AC but there is a fan and when we went, it was 18C outside. If you are hiking or touring early, they can prepare a mini breakfast for you which is pretty awesome. Otherwise, the regular breakfast is @ 7:30 and it’s pretty good. They still use manual keys for door locks. Has a pool but we didn’t use it. Helpful staff.

Room was very dusty with marks on bathroom door and walls that could easily be remived with a wet wipe, so not thoroughly cleaned. Corridors were also really dusty. Thick dust on door frames and skirting boards. Great location!! Staff quite unhelpful and dismissive.

Brilliant breakfast. Central so we could easily walk to the market, cathedral restaurant area, marina. Lots of eateries around from cafes to higher end. On a side street so not a lot of traffic noise. Supermarket 3 min walk. Staff so friendly and helpful and serving staff brilliant, quietly super efficient. Room was very good, balcony, great shower. Cleaned every day.

Fantastic Location, lovely breakfast, very friendly staff. Nice touches like the glass of bubbly on arrival and at breakfast. However, the hotel is a bit dated and the hair drier in the bathroom went bang when my wife tried to use it. Could also do with a kettle in the room.

Great location

Great location in the centre of the old town. Hotel is a bit tired, and sound proofing between rooms is pretty poor. Breakfast buffet is quite limited in choice. I was surprised that you had to request and pay extra for a fridge for the room… The rooftop is great with plenty of loungers, the poolside bar was not open while I was there despite the pool area being full of guests on several days - this is a missed opportunity. It’s a shame that more is not made of the mid-century design - which is very on trend and could be a real feature. The staff were lovely and the welcome glass of fizz at check-in was a nice touch.

Hotel Do Carmo

The Hotel Do Carmo is in a very good location; close to shops, cafés and a grocery store. The lobby of the hotel was very nice, so when we got up to our room we were surprised to see that it was quite dated. The little balcony overlooking the street was great. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. They offer parking across the street for €10/day. The breakfast was good with many options. The welcome glass of sparkling wine was a nice touch!

The overall theme of the hotel was good. The welcome drink was a really nice touch. Good value for money especially considering the location. Bar staff were not very attentive. Areas for improvement could include air-conditioning and tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms.
