Room was clean and comfortable, public areas were very nice and breakfast was lovely. Staff very attentive.
Perfect hotel for our Christmas trip with friends. Quiet location yet easy walk to town, lovely old hotel with bags of character, large car park and the staff were exceptional in all aspects of their service. Would definitely recommend this hotel and we will visit again.

My husband and I spent two nights in this hotel. We had a small dog with us
Whilst the hotel rooms were clean and tidy we did not experience any other part of hotel as we had a dog with us.
We also did not eat in the hotel as no area that allowed a dog.
Our main issue however was no hot water in bath / shower only hot in wash hand basin.
First complaint made at front desk on first morning. Advised to read instructions on how hot water works.
At 4pm after a long rainy walk with dog we were cold and wet and looked forward to hot bath so following instructions ie turn on whb and bath we tried again
No difference. All that happened was the wash hand basin overflowed ( obviously blocked) so now we had to dry the floor but still no hot water.
2nd complaint to front desk assured us someone would be there in ten minutes. No one arrived.
Cold showers all round.
Cold shower again on 2nd morning.
On checking out I again complained to the manager who sent a staff member to room to check.
I eventually left her after her running the water at least 20 minutes to no avail.
Not sure the outcome as have not heard anything from the hotel.
Disappointed to say the least. Our two night break in Harrogate was an unpleasant experience.

Room was clean, albeit dated furniture and decor.
Double bed was small and short, and im only 5'10.
Shower was poor, tap control was limited so either very hot or tepid.
Reception greeting wasn't very friendly, i didn't feel my business was welcomed.
Plenty of parking, warm welcome in enormous reception with lots of comfortable seating areas, helpful local info. Comfortable rooms in grand old hotel. Some areas need a bit of paint but generally good condition. Comfortable beds.

This was a last minute booking, price was a consideration as well as location. We arrived about 8 pm and were gone by 8 am, so not much time to use the facilities. We used the bar and met relatives. One of our party ordered herbal tea which took an age, and not much selection.
We didn't eat at the hotel, so can not comment about the dinning facilities or quality of food.
The room was clean and tidy.
One shock, staying in Harrogate, and the hotel had Tetley tea in the rooms not Taylors!!!
Check in and check out staff were polite and helpful.
The general impression of the hotel was that it needed some love, the decoration could do with refurbishment.
For our flying last minute cheap visit it met our needs and budget.
The hotel looks lovely from the outside but our room was extremely dated and unclean. I did wonder if the hotel had sacked their cleaning staff … dust and dirt all over. The carpet hadn't been vacuumed, light above bed didn’t work and when reported was told it wouldn’t be looked at that day. There weren’t enough plug sockets, the beds were uncomfy and curtains not long enough. Would not stay here again.
Breakfast was nice, would have liked some nuts and seeds to go on the yogurt, had to ask for a pot of tea as I think the waitress forgot about us, but cooked breakfast was nice and hot.
Clean room great size, comfortable bed , nice bathroom and shower although shower in bath was quite low and my husband couldn’t stand under it.
Great stay , would recommend the hotel

The room was clean, but could do with a refurb, a lick of paint would, nt go amiss and paint the furniture shabby chic if money is tight. Very nice staff felt very comfortable there, great pots of tea and car park was spacious, close to all Harrogate as to offer.
This was my second stay at the Cairn hotel as my son is at the nearby AFC. The Cairn is a lovely building. With free parking and located within 10 minutes of Harrogate town centre. The rooms and en-suite bathrooms are a decent size. The restaurant are is quite large. The breakfast was a little disappointing in offerings and quality but did not stop me from returning a second time.
Polite friendly hotel. Room was just right and had everything we needed. It was overall really good value for money and a good nights sleep. The dog even enjoyed it.

Wasn't able to stay due to a cancelled flight. I understand there are rules but offered no alternative, such as change of date or credit.
Shame as it was a good price and location.

The decor was generally OK but is very tired. Peeling wall paper, evidence of damp patches, rough looking finishing like skirting boards etc looking they had layers upon layers of paint added to them over the years. . Generally need a refresh. Hot water for showers was not available in evening after say 8pm temperature was look warm. Wi-Fi was poor, disconnecting and intermittent, better on phones 4/5G. Was made aware there was an issue getting fibre to the property. But results can be improved by fitting a UniFi UDMpro and unfi access points and managing the available wifi and guest bandwidth effectively.{works great at work} Room could have done with an addition double mains plug. Overall nice warm, comfortable place with friendly staff and food would stay again.
