Holidays in Farasan

If dull work convos are causing you grief, it might be time to renew your passport and head off the beaten track for a while. Book your ticket to Farasan and you'll be in a terrific spot to get out and explore the envy-inducing coastal plains of Southern Saudi Arabia!

It lies 1,000 kilometres southwest of the nation's capital, Riyadh.

The close-by localities of Gizan and Sabya are worth your time. They're located 75 kilometres east and 85 kilometres northeast away, respectively. Hop in the car and find out what's happening!

Sure, it's wonderful to be next to the water, but it's a great deal more fun to be on or in it! Make the most of the opportunity to try some of the region's popular watersports, such as swimming and boating.

It's difficult to say just what you'll see in the region's history museums, but you can be sure it's going to be enthralling!

If you ask residents about activities in the surrounding area, they'll often suggest the lovely open-air museums and open-air exhibits.

Get a better understanding of the region's history by exploring some of the close-by ruins and old towns. Do some research beforehand or find the most well-informed tour guide in town.

Learn how faith plays a vital role in the lives of those who call Farasan home by making your way to a few mosques.

Your eyes shouldn't have all the fun while visiting Southern Saudi Arabia. Give your taste buds a little loving too by trying some of the local food and drink. After all, you can't say you've really experienced a place until you've tasted its flavours.

Are you curious about some of the traditional ingredients used here? You should be prepared to taste yoghurt and cardamom in many of your meals.

There's no need to agonise over the menu when you're in Farasan. Just dive straight in and try the area's signature dishes, such as miqush (meat and vegetable soup) and shorobat il-jeresh (saudi wheat soup).

'Stressed' spelled backwards is 'desserts', and we don't think that's a coincidence. There's no more heavenly way to wave goodbye to your worries than with marsah (bread with banana and honey), a sweet treat that's often found on dining tables here.

If you're travelling to Farasan on the 23rd of September, get ready to kick up your heels! Unification of the Kingdom see many locals heading out and celebrating.

Farasan's closest terminal is King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Airport (GIZ). When the time comes to pack your bag and hit the skies, head 75 kilometres to the east.

Hotel is really nice and rooms are modern and fairly new. Only thing that lets it down is the breakfast option and the fact there is always a queue for the omelette line. They should really have at least 2 people on that station. Other than that I would recommend this hotel.
