Holidays in Fanas
Yep. We hear ya. Wanderlust — it gets right into your bones. So, isn't it about time you planned your next adventure? Fanas awaits!
You don't need to spend hours travelling to reach Fanas, which lies 20 kilometres to the southeast of the prominent city of Vaduz.
There's no need to head too far to take in some outstanding natural sights. Dig out your car keys and follow the road signs to Piz Buin, 35 kilometres away from Fanas, for a chilled-out day. Or perhaps Santis is more to your taste? It's located just 40 kilometres away.
Dangle your legs from the chairlift at Oberstdorf Ski Resort as you decide on your next run. Alongside Arosa Ski Resort, this snowy playground offers some of the best skiing in the region.
Seize the opportunity to head to other nearby sights, such as Malbun Ski Resort and the Lampart Winery. You will find them 3 kilometres northwest in Seewis im Prattigau. Not ready to give back the hire car just yet? Sankt Antonien Ski Area and Central Power Station are in Schiers, 5 kilometres to the east of Fanas.
You may have the urge to set up base in Sankt Antonien for a little bit. This place is 12 kilometres away and close to Church of Sankt Antonien, Saint Antonier Joch and Gargellenalpe Ski Lift. A few other nearby sights are Gargellner Köpfe and Kristallbahn.
'There is no love sincerer than the love of food,' George Bernard Shaw once wrote, but throw travel into the mix and it's a marriage made in heaven. You're invited to indulge in two of your greatest loves by eating and drinking your way across Graubuenden.
Traditional cuisine here tends to include chocolate and chestnuts, two essential elements for which the area is famous for dishing up.
No food-loving adventurer would leave Fanas without tasting one or two of the local specialties, such as bündner gerstensuppe (grisons barley soup) and wurstsalat (sausage salad).
Dessert is never a bad idea, so why not get stuck into a little bündner nusstorte (nut filled tart)? It's worth every heavenly calorie!
To beer or not to beer? Of course, the answer is always beer. While you're in this neck of the woods, Appenzeller is the name to say.
Not much is finer than a glass of wine with dinner. Here, chasselas and riesling x sylvaner are what the vino savants typically order.
You may be poor in Swiss francs by the end of your trip, but you'll be rich in incredible experiences. "Adieu" Fanas!
When you're all set to fly home, make sure you have ample time to reach Zurich Airport (ZRH). Located 100 kilometres to the northwest from downtown Fanas, this is the nearest terminal.
Hotels in Fanas
lastminute.com.au doesn't list any accommodation for Fanas itself. Although, if you don't mind heading just 3 kilometres away, there are a handful of options available in Seewis im Prattigau. Some of our more popular options are the Walliserhof and Hotel Scesaplana.Top hotels for your Fanas holiday

TUI BLUE Montafon
Horrible staff and dirty rooms, used contact lenses and hair everywhere, a toilet smell all night from other units spreading the room. The staff was accusing us of unpaid invoice, even though she was there herself during checking in collecting all payments. Do not stay at this hotel!

Hotel Vaduzerhof by b_smart
There is absolutely NO airflow in the rooms. They are designed to keep you warm, not cool. The still air was about 77F and unfortunately I am one of those travelers who needs either cool OR moving air (ie a fan blowing) otherwise I get very nauseous at night. I ended up getting sick and am still ...
