Alternatively, you could go to Habichtswald. It's 8 kilometres to the north of Elmshagen and popular for the Kassel Congress Center and the Escheberg Golf Club.

Fuldabruck, 12 kilometres to the east, is worth a day trip. Use it as a base when visiting the Brothers Grimm Museum, the Museum for Sepulkralkultur and Messe Kassel Exhibition Centre. If you'd like more persuading, other close by attractions include Staatspark Karlsaue and the Astronomy and Physics Exhibition at the Orangerie.
