The room was very clean and comfortable, but my towel had a small brown stain on it.
Two of the staff were very unfriendly, when we arrived she just gave us our key without a smile and we had to ask twice before we discovered that the room was a little chalet in the car park.
There is a nice view of a peaceful field and trees from the window and generally it was okay.

This hotel needs to invest in new/decent pillows. For many people pillows make or break a good night’s sleep. The ones in our room were totally flat/worn out - we asked for some additional ones but were told none were available as the hotel was fully booked. Seems very strange that a hotel with this many rooms would not carry extra bedding/a few reserves.
Just not good enough really. And such a shame as it did cost us a good night’s sleep.
Otherwise - bed itself was comfortable enough. Cleanliness just about alright - but really filthy roller blind in room (complete with squished flies) needs to be replaced.
Breakfast just about ok but a little lacking in options given the price.
Overall advice - if a decent pillow is important to you, bring your own if you can.
Breakfast very disappointing. No pastries as on menu.
Poor quality produce.
Staff pleasant,
Will certainly not return.Too many "Workie" guests.
Terrible noisy neighbours (both sides)
To be avoided.
Considering the price paid, this is a very good hotel. Stayed for 2 nights for work. Food in the restaurant is reasonably priced and portions are large. The WiFi is excellent
LIKED that I could park right outside my ground floor room.
Beds were comfortable and room was of a medium size which was fine for a one night stay for just myself. We booked a bigger room on our last stay and would say it was better.
However you can't have breakfast after 9am.
Perhaps ok for Workers but 9.30 or 10am would be better for holidaymakers. I chose not to have breakfast for this reason.
The location was easy to find and on a main road off the A1 and easy to get to the P& R into Durham.
Excellent choice of accommodation for a stay in and around Durham. My son and I were there to visit the university and it was a short bus journey into the city. Similarly a short bus journey from the train or bus station to the property. Very friendly and helpful staff, especially John, who gave me directions over the phone a few days before we got there. Lovely clean room (in a motel style), beautiful comfortable beds and excellent shower. TV, tea and coffee making facilities. Can park right outside room if you came by car. Lovely bar area, and beautiful breakfast options. The fully cooked breakfast was excellent. All the staff were so lovely and welcoming, particularly John who welcomed us when we arrived. Would thoroughly recommend.
Very convenient for us because it’s exactly half-way between our home and our daughter’s house.

The Honest Lawyer consisted of a central building with bar and restaurant and then 46 motel rooms ranged around a car park. It is on a busy main road although the rear of the rooms looked out over a field backed by a wood. Because it was on a main road it was right on the route of three buses so was great for getting to Durham bus station. The staff were all friendly and obliging and the rooms were clean and serviced well. The main building where the bar and restaurant were had obviously recently had money spent on the decor. Food in the restaurant was middle of the road but tasty and plentiful enough. The rooms in the motel part were adequate enough with two chairs, plenty of sockets and mirrors and a nice warm shower over a bath. They did look a little tired and could do with some updating. Also there were hanging baskets right around the car park in which all the plants were dead. I would stay here again if in the vicinity and would recommend it
Ideally situated to attend a family funeral. Room clean but basic. Comfortable bed. Only negative was walls thin between rooms and woke up to foul loud language from male next room.
Our arrival felt unwelcome when we checked in. Our room smelled a bit damp and was generally quite dirty. Lots of cobwebs, the bathroom was especially dirty with lots of mould around the window and bath.
I would not recommend going bare foot either.
We had breakfast, which was okay but not good value for money.
The location for Durham is good, but that's about it.
