This was genuinely one of the worst hotel stays I have ever experienced and completely unacceptable for a Holiday Inn. From arrival, the corridors smelt strongly of damp, immediately giving a poor first impression. The room and bathroom were extremely worn, dated, and clearly overdue refurbishment. The double bed was the smallest I have ever encountered and was either broken, completely worn out, or ridiculously soft. Any movement caused the other person to be jolted awake, making sleep impossible. We were on a special mother–daughter break and neither of us slept at all, leaving us utterly exhausted the following day. On top of this, the parking situation was poorly managed and unnecessarily stressful. We needed parking beyond 1pm on the day of departure and paid for an extra night of parking to cover this. We were already concerned at check-in that this would not be properly understood by staff, and unfortunately this proved correct. At check-out, we were told we had not paid for parking and I had to produce the receipt as proof. Even then, we fully expect to receive a parking ticket and have to go through yet more hassle to resolve it. This confusion added unnecessary time and stress to both check-in and check-out, when the process should have been simple and straightforward. Overall, this stay fell far below basic hotel. This experience has seriously damaged my trust in the Holiday Inn brand and I would not stay here again orecommend it t. , and incompetent handlingcomp

The staff ‘welcome’ at check in was dreadful. Three staff members huddled round a computer and ignored me for several minutes. No acknowledgement, or a simple ‘be with you in a minute’, just ignored. When they finally looked up there was no smile, no greeting, just stared at me and waited for me to speak. I genuinely wanted to walk out at stay at a Travelodge!

The room we booked as a family was Premium Room but the central heating was not working and I had to keep going to reception they told me to turn on the radiator but this didn’t work a member of staff came later to check and said it wasn’t working and came back 4 hours later 10pm with an oil filled heater it’s January and for a premium room and 4 star hotel this is not acceptable myself and our child was very cold.
