Would highly recommend-we stayed one other place in Denali and the Holland America Lodge has all of the creature comforts and transportation everywhere you want to go.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Not great
No idea where the lodge was because no directions were given by the desk. No one mentioned shuttle bus options, no staff in lodge to answer questions. Will not stay again
Lodge was nice. Great shuttle service around the grounds. A few hiccups. There was no elevator in our building so we had to drag our luggage up the stairs. Given the hotel rate we expected daily room cleaning. Didn’t happen. Coffee service in room was 2 6 oz cups of regular and 2 of decaf. Not replenished the second day
We booked our stay directly and not through Holland America. Check in was easy, the lobby nice, but the restaurants did not seem very interested in serving us at 8:30 pm when dinner service ended at 10. Then when we got to our room in the Canyon lodge, we noticed the worn down state of the rooms. We had a thermostat that controlled nothing. We couldn’t even find a vent in the room. The bathroom could use some attention too. Hopefully Holland America can upgrade the rooms as they become more familiar with the property. The second day, we wanted to buy sandwiches from the cafe in the lobby at 12:30pm. There was a sign saying “will return”. We had to ask for the manager to look for someone after ten minutes went by and no employees appeared. It also seemed no one in the lobby knew what people across the hall were doing. Someone finally came and the sandwiches were expensive and not very good. The chocolate chip cookie was delicious. All in all, I think we would pay more to stay at one of the nicer properties next time.
No Mountain View like mentioned. Not stroller accessible. Vending machine doesn’t work. Exposed wires in the bathroom. Bed frame broken. No trash bags. Broken window opener.
Was told at check in there was no parking near room. Would have to walk or take shuttle. Was told that the complex "catered to bus tours, not car travelers". One king bed instead of two beds. When questioned, was told a king can fit 4 people. Was told nothing available. I said I booked 2 beds, Was asked how I booked. I said through Expedia. "Supervisor" said - "Oh that's what the problem is". Was made to feel it was my fault they did not have what I reserved.
No internet from room. Had to leave complex to find a "public space". Vending machines empty. Cardboard cups instead of glass (glass is MORE sustainable) for $300/night. I don't think there was ever coffee in the room. Took an hour to get settled after 10 hour drive - not fun. The "luxury" we expected to get was only superficial and mostly the grounds (which were beautiful). Grumpy staff, Whole experience turned us off. Guess we are just not "cruise" people. Definitely not what we were expecting.
A unique, fun place to stay. Hotel staff was very accomodating in helping us to have a room that met my disability needs. Shuttle met us at railroad and took care of getting our luggage to our room.
Great location. Not enough car parking spaces. Terrible front desk service. It was end of season so help was ready to leave. Only Sophie and Jonathan--2 servers in Karstens restaurant were superb!

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Extremely well located right next to park entrance. But hotel is very poorly planned, you have to wait for a shuttle or walk far away from only 2 small parking lots. There is no housekeeping and food is very overpriced.
Check in is 3. At 3:30 I checked in and was told the room may or may not be clean, but if it wasn’t I could leave my stuff in the room and comeback later. Why would they give me a room if they didn’t know it was clean and why would I leave my stuff there? The clerk was quite distracted by two coworkers who weren’t busy. Service was poor for lunch. I was finally given a menu and told what they didn’t have, but no one ever came back for my order. I left and ate elsewhere. Parking was inadequate. People were double and triple parked in the overflow lot. It was late in the season so who knows what it’s like in summer. BTW this property is owned by Holland American cruise line.
