We get it! The sound of that plane overhead set loose the adventurer within, right? Then a trip to Chusan might just be the ticket! From here, you'll be able to step off the tourist trail and explore the picturesque coastal plains and forests of North Jeolla.

It lies 180 kilometres south of the country's capital, Seoul.

There's no need to go too far to experience some nice natural sights. Dig out your car keys and head to Byeonsan-bando National Park, 45 kilometres away from Chusan, for a relaxing day. Or maybe Moak Mountain is more to your taste? It's located just 30 kilometres away.

Hoping to experience some rousing soccer action? Then come and see the Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors lock horns with the opposition on their home turf of Jeonju World Cup Stadium, which is 19 kilometres away in Jeonju.

You'll find even more just down the road. Iksan, 13 kilometres to the northeast, is popular for the Mireuksa Temple and Wanggungni Historic Site. Alternatively, if Arirang Literature Museum and Dongjin Irrigation Folk Museum are more appealing, travel 16 kilometres south from Chusan to Gimje.

Jeonju, 25 kilometres to the southeast, is a great day trip. You can use it as a port of call when swinging by the Gyeonggijeon, the Jeonju Historical Museum and the Jeonju National Museum. If you'd like more persuading, other nearby attractions include the Pungnammun Gate and Jeondong Catholic Church.
