An enjoyable stay at a well placed hotel

This is a great hotel, well placed to access shops and eateries. Staff are friendly and efficient. The rooms are well decorated and have efficient Aircon. The breakfast offers a good selection of cooked and continental offerings.

Such a disappointing stay. Such a dirty city with accommodations due for updates, and staff that requested feedback, but never responded to our concerns- something that would have been appreciated after two completely sleepless nights of chaos in the street below our room (literally hearing violent screams until 4am). Not a place to return!

Where to start! I ended my stay early. I am appalled that this hotel is deemed a four star hotel. However, coming from London perhaps one has higher expectations than the average person. The bathroom had black mould in the shower, the toilet seal at the back of the wall was coming off making the toilet very wobbly, the water pressure was terrible. There were bugs in the lamp, stains on the carpet, an empty mini -bar, if you wanted slippers and a dressing gown you had to ask at reception. No laundry bag, half full bottles of soap and shampoo. The cleaners clearly hate their job and as someone with a cleaning background these rooms are not cleaned properly at all and had no eye for detail. I had finished the toilet roll and the empty roll was just left there - not replaced. Clearly no manager is overseeing the cleaners. The room service food was diabolical - supermarket bought pizza, microwave rice- tasteless chilli con carne. Some staff friendly and some arrogant- particularly the male working behind the desk- told me I had to wait until the next day for someone to sort out the toilet. If this is Cheltenham's flagship hotel then all I can say is OH DEAR! I will end on one positive thing- dog friendly apart from the restaurant and the grumpy cleaner who gave me a death stare when my dog said hello.

The hotel is central to town centre with convenient (if a little pricey) parking. Reception was poorly lit and therefore rather gloomy. Check in was fine. Our room was very large with a very big bed. However the shower room was very small with very poor lighting. In the room there was just one chair (with a nasty brown stain) and two stools. Other than the wardrobe there was no storage and the lack of furnishings and zero outlook made the room feel uninviting. Dining staff were very efficient and the breakfast buffet was comprehensive. English breakfast appeared very good but the flavour (except for the sausage) was bland.

Great location and area of architectural interest, close to restaurants, bars & coffee shops. Good coffee/tea facilities with mini fridge. Room had air con, but no means to make the room warmer. Impractical tiny bathroom really let the room down. You had to be 6ft+ tall to be able to use the make-up/shaving mirror, shower was walk-in with inadequate glass screen - floor got very wet and no hook to hang towel on for after shower. Switch to operate bathroom fan was high above the bathroom door - impossible to reach unless you’re very tall or stand on a chair! Not impressed.

The shower was so weak it was basically completely useless. somewhat ruined my experience. My bathroom was also very tiny and not especially nice. And this isn't really anyone's fault, but it was very very noisy, night and day. Banging, creaking, doors slamming, windows rattling from music from outside, running, shouting. I wouldn't stay there again.
