It's a grand hotel and my second stay. Perfect location for Buxton town centre. The Breakfasts are good. The hotel does need some TLC. The bathroom sink was cracked but we were only there for one night.
The hotel was handy for Buxton town. Room was ok, bathroom set in the eaves so insufficient height for the shower if you're tall. Separate toilet also in eaves only really suited to a smaller adult! Tried the pool and gym area but again only ok. Reception area good as plenty of spaces to sit. Would I stay here again, probably not.

Bring earplugs and noise cancelling headphones, if your window is near the hotels ventilation system it will be very loud 24/7.
Otherwise the hotel has a beautiful exterior and communal interior areas for the cheap price.

Not enough staff on the floor. The pool was really too cold and the attendantvea#cquite cheeky when he was told. Several people commented on how cold the pool was
Another great stay at the Palace ! Been renovated and improved. Public areas are lovely and reception staff helpful. Our room was spacious, clean and fresh.
Have stayed at Palace before and had a larger room at the front which was nicer. The room was clean and tidy nonetheless with all one would expect.
Paying extra for onsite parking is a nuisance but am aware of it now.
Very nice character building to stay in with great access to local amenities.
Excellent service from Suzanne on reception. The hotel lobby and lounge were beautiful - but the room was tiny with a noisy a/c duct outside the window and the bed/pillows were terrible.

A very grand hotel if a bit dated now. We shouldn't have to pay extra for parking or the 'spa' as hotel guests. (Spa changing rooms were dirty and showers mouldy, a weird smelling tiny sauna and stream room). Understaffed and inefficient breakfast service, maitre de was having to clear tables and multi-task, she could have done with someone managing the youngsters clearing table and telling her when and where tables were available. A 20 mins wait queueing to be seated is simply not acceptable at breakfast.

Entrance hall, lounge and dining areas were grand however bedrooms were shabby and dated. Bar facilities after 5pm were limited and poor service.

Tired splendour cashing in on its central location.
We were very impressed with our room which was very clean and looked freshly reburbished.
The hotel itself was also clean and fresh with very helpful and friendly staff. A stones throw from restaurants and the theatre so convenient location.
Would recommend to others.
Was put in a room that had a toilet separate from the bathroom, not a problem apart from the pipes singing and knocking for ten minutes after every flush. The tap only fed cold water. I asked to switch rooms and was put on the very top floor. The room was very basic and dated. Tv didn't work well, neither did the heating. Wasn't particularly happy about the £5 a night charge for parking on top of the room rate.
enjoyable, spotlessly clean, faded grandeur
we visited for a concert & weren’t sure what to expect of the hotel
exceeded expectations! The towels, toiletries & shower were all as good as more expensive place. Impossible for a big hotel of this age to compete with the new builds. It was comfortable, certainly met our needs & staff all went above & beyond
easy check in with friendly polite staff. Room good value. Great location for the Opera House to see a show. Good breakfast. Special mention to Suzanne on reception for her helpfulness and sense of humour
Stayed here for 2 nights. The hotel was in a great location, close to everything , the train station is next door too. It's a good base for travelling around the peak district . The hotel was clean , the staff were friendly and helpful. We didn't eat at the hotel so can't comment on the food. Id recommend staying here.
We had an excellent stay at the Grade 2 listed Britannia Palace! While the room is certainly compact it was clean throughout and suited our needs just fine for an overnight stay. Suzanne on reception was super friendly and helpful and talked me through how to register my car - car parking was free for 24 hours from when we arrived. The swimming pool and steam room were also a welcome addition for what was a very affordable price!
