This is my second time staying with the Read house for a little weekend getaway with my husband. I don't think I will ever stay anywhere else. The property is beautiful, the staff professional and friendly and our favorite restaurant is right around the corner!

Dirty coffee cup

Housekeeping refilled our in-room paper lidded coffee cup supply with a used dirty cup. Overall, the room felt old and dirty. The hotel lobby had an event / party set up in the entrance / welcome area. I don't know if that location was planned or the hotel overbooked their banquet facilities, but it was awkward. The Read Hotel is not as special as advertised.

The hotel lobby and entire main floor is beautiful. I love the history! However, the rooms aren’t that nice. My room smelled odd, was outdated and small, and the damaged bathtub looks like its never been replaced.

Old / worn hotel room. Our room was not cleaned to average hotel expectations (2 hairs in bathtub, carpet had crumbs, etc). Fancy lobby and style from the outside. Overpriced. Note: We stayed in the manor section. We were told by others that the tower section was nicer.

Nice room, and good room service, great location. My only issue is with the valet service. We got there in a pouring rain. The valets took our keys but did not help at all with our luggage and at one point I had to tell them to unlock my car so I could get it all out. When returning my car at check out, the valet nearly crashed my Cadillac into another car that was leaving. If I had not yelled at both drivers, my passenger side door would be smashed in.
