It's situated 570 kilometres to the south of the country's capital, Paris.

Clarensac is only 19 kilometres to the east and boasts attractions that you won't want to miss. The Temple of Diana and the Fountain Gardens alone make the trip worthwhile. If you're not convinced yet, you should also have a look at Magne Tower.

Keep a sharp lookout for seashells to start a collection or try to spot critters like seabirds and crabs at Cap d'Agde Beach and La Grande Motte Beach. You'll find these appealing shorelines 75 kilometres and 30 kilometres away, respectively.

Venture beyond the confines of Carnas and get ready to experience some picturesque natural sights. Just 40 kilometres away, Cirque de Navacelles is a terrific spot to unwind in the fresh air. We also recommend Grotte des Demoiselles, 20 kilometres away from Carnas.

Head 25 kilometres southwest to Mosson Stadium to attend an exciting live game of soccer. Located in Montpellier, the venue is the home turf of the Montpellier HSC, so wear some orange, white and navy and get ready for some fun!

When it comes to skiing and snowboarding, there are some people who are able to glide effortlessly down even the most formidable slopes. For others, just staying off the ground is trying enough. Regardless of your level of skill, you're bound to love the action on offer at Station de ski du Bleymard Mont Lozere.

There's even more just down the road. Saint-Clement, 3 kilometres to the east, is known for Chateau de Villevieille and Roc de Massereau Adventure Park. Though, if the Domaine Mas de l'Oncle Winery and La Belle Vigne are more appealing, travel 3 kilometres west from Carnas to Vacquieres.

The Maison Carree, Nimes Arena and the Archaeology Museum are all quite close to Nimes, 30 kilometres to the east. Need more reasons to visit? The Old Nimes Museum and the Museum of Modern Art aren't far away either.

The good news is that Carnas isn't going anywhere, so this "Au revoir / À bientôt" doesn't need to be your last!

If you're catching a plane home, it's wise to map out your route to the terminal before leaving. From the centre of Carnas, you'll need to travel some 110 kilometres east to Marseille - Provence Airport (MRS), the nearest airport.
