Solo stay at an adults-only resort that lacked soul and energy.
I stayed at Sandos as a solo traveler, expecting a peaceful, adult-only atmosphere — but I left more emotionally drained than relaxed. The property is on the smaller side, which I normally wouldn’t mind, but it lacked the vibrancy you’d expect from a resort: no live events, no pool bar, and limited social energy overall. It felt very quiet — and not in a calming way, more in a disconnected way.
Reservations for the restaurants were fully booked early, and as a solo guest, I had to constantly navigate everything on my own. There wasn’t much effort from the staff to guide or check in — I often felt invisible unless I initiated everything myself. Some staff were kind (and I tipped them), but overall, the energy was inconsistent and lukewarm at best.
I never once felt unsafe, which I truly appreciated as a solo Black woman, but the emotional isolation was real. This might be a fit for couples looking to do nothing, but for solo travelers seeking warmth, hospitality, or even just connection — this may not be the place.
Wouldn’t return.
