Motel is on the Main Street so night noise is expected and the railway is very close so train whistles go at all hours but even with that I would stay there again. Rooms are not ground level so if you can’t do stairs it would be no good.

Comfortable and basic

The staff at Matilda were fab, very helpful and attentive. When I needed extra nights due to the cyclone affecting my plans, they were very accommodating and I even got to stay on the same room. Overall, the room was comfortable and satisfied my needs. I felt it was overpriced due to it being rather rundown and in need of updating, plus the pool was unusable (it was very dirty and had the pool hoover (or something) in it) which was one of the main reasons I booked this motel.

Pick up your act and check the room.

We arrived after the office had closed so we collected our keg from the locked box. When we entered our room, we found wet towels on the floor and the basin had shaving hair all over it, also someone's used soap was left in the soap holder in the shower. The coffee cups and glasses looked like they had not been washed.

Convinient and Quiet

Nice, quiet and not overwhelming, we let the owners know the day after checkin that the shower head in our room was leaking terribly, and they came back the very next morning (on christmas eve no less!) with a brand new replacement shower head. The motel itself is located in such a convinient area, right across the road from a 24-hour convinience store/ takeaway and a stones throw from just about everything you'd ever need, would definitely stay here again :> my only gripe is that the sheets are a little scratchy, but thats a drop in the pond imo.

So sad 😞

Wanted to give this Motel one more chance after very sad stay last month (oct) upgraded to superior room this month so paid more then last standard room stay. Wow worse, no bathroom sink, to many faults to metion , so brush teeth in same sink as wash coffee cups etc no thanks Love the location but sorry wont be back. I
