Our room was in the annexe across the street from the main hotel. This was not mentioned on Expedia and certainly detracted from our enjoyment not feeling the ambience of what is a good hotel. The room was clean but the description’Superior’ is deceptive for what I consider to be a very average room. The hotel was clean in a good position inside the walls and the breakfast was good. The Hôtel restaurant next door was also very good.

From the free shuttle car service to the hotel, to the warm and professional service from the staff - this hotel is top notch. My room, number 36, did smell very strongly of fresh paint and the radiator in the bathroom had an extremely rusty pipe. The bed was very comfortable, no other windows looked in on my room, which I really liked. Breakfast was great, good choices. The hotel kindly stored my case whilst I explored the city more after checking out, I really appreciated this. I would definitely stay again.

Staff were lovely and the hotel is nice & central. However room a bit old - we had a ‘deluxe’ room which looked nothing like the pictures; they likely have a range in this category and the one we had was very basic. Lack of amenities such as conditioner and the shampoo had run out & wasnt refilled. Didn’t feel like a 4 star. Lobby area and entrance however were lovely.

This hotel was very fun in that it was located within the walls of Carcasonne. The many tourists disappeared in the evening and the town became quiet and beautiful!

Dishonest

We had booked a superior room, but they placed us in a standard room instead—smaller, with only one window overlooking the garden and no terrace, despite what was advertised on their website. My daughter had experienced the same issue before. This is truly dishonest management with questionable practices. I strongly advise against staying here.

The Hotel Le Donjon is one of the most unique places I've ever stayed. It was a great experience. From our room we could see the Chateau Comtal, the castle of Carcassonne. The hotel is right in the middle of La Cite Medievale, near the Aude Gate. The staff was very helpful and accomodating. The room was spacious and the beds were comfortable. It was great staying in the walled city. We could bring our purchases back to the room easily. The hotel also has a secured parking lot that it shares with the nearby Hotel de La Cite. We would definitely stay here again and request the same room!
