Disliked: Cleanliness, amenities, property conditions & facilities
I was really disappointed with this hotel. I stay in hotels in this area for work reasons and I thought I’d try the Mercure for once, as hotel looked nice online. However on entry the reception was small and inpractical - my room was on top floor which had me going up and down tiny corridors with light, with lots of heavy fire doors with a lack of signage as to where room numbers are. The room itself was large but dated. The bathroom smelt abit but passable.
The TV didn’t work.
The real downside for me was the noise heard when trying to sleep. Firstly it seemed I was next to a boiler room as loud mechanical noises throughout night- which woke me up several times. Also above me or around me I could hear chairs scraped on floors and what heard like furniture being moved - this was really frustrating and meant I lacked a good nights sleep. No phone in room so couldn’t call reception.
I was expecting the view from room to be green countryside as seen online but all I could see was ugly roof with tarpaulin all over it and loose tiles on roof. It looked neglected. There is no gym.
I don’t know how this hotel is 4 stars. The other local hotels I usually stay at are 2/3 stars and so much better.
It’s a shame but I will not be choosing to stay at this hotel again. Expensive for what you get.
