The advertisement for this hotel is very misleading. Walking towards the beautiful main building, I saw the sign for Reception at the opposite end of the garden. The illusion was shattered. The entrance, corridors and rooms were no different to a Premier Inn, and as I'd paid £174 for this experience, I wasn't best pleased. The insulation was poor so I heard every conversation through the door which was only 4' from the bed!!! The spa was nice although very busy so I ventured down early on Sunday morning. The pool water was cloudy which was a little disconcerting. Staff at the spa, Harry's cafe and the restaurant were excellent and couldn't have been more helpful. The breakfast was okay, but all the hot food was cold and the coffee machine gave adequate coffee which was a little disappointing. Would I stay again, NO, not for the price I paid!

Overall the stay was disappointing. For the price we paid for a Stable King for one night, we were definitely overcharged. The room was extremely basic and small. One of the windows didn't close from the inside so my husband had to go outside and push it closed from there. When we woke up in the morning they were dripping in condensation. There were zero nice touches in the room. The only thing that saved the day was the restaurant on site. The food was excellent. Overall the service was good, however, we were sat in the bar having a late afternoon drink and we overheard a manager almost shouting at one of the restaurant staff because he had allowed a couple to book a table at 9:30. Apparently that was wrong but for her to berate him in front of hotel guests was disgusting behaviour. I'm afraid we won't be returning.

I did not have time to swim as I was attending a two days Conference. The room I was staying in looked tired and requires an upgrade but before leaving Donna was kind enough to show me other rooms including the 3 rooms in the Manor House. I liked the executive suites and that will be my choice at my next visit. All the staff were professional and pulled out all the stops to make my stay comfortable. Dr JJN Masani
