Good building shame about the rest

Rooms were clean but dated beds really not comfortable had better stays in a premier inn. The building was incredible with an amazing history was just a shame to see it not what you’d want to see for such a heritage building

No cleaning provided despite asking poor smell from room bathroom flush not working properly. Overheated rooms, no proper accessories to hang clothes in washroom. No lift have to carry luggage to top floors. No staff at reception half the time. Paid parking. Avoid this one for sure

Room allocated was in the basement, not the best...the central heating was blasting out, tried to turn the radiator down but it would not work. Informed the manger on reception who came down to look. The valve was broken he came back with a newer one again that did not work. We had the option to roast alive or put up with the radiator making a loud running water sound. He said it would be passed to maintenance for the next day. Well nothing was done at all . No apologies, no offer to move us rooms or anything else. Due to to this very poor service I would not stay here again or recommend it to anyone

Convenient location if you need the train. Lobby area and lounge were nice, but the room was disappointing for the price. The staff were nice and held my bags until checkin. I was in room 54 which ended up having bedbugs (I sadly didn't notice the bites until about an hour after leaving when I was on the train so did not get to notify staff). The double mattresses were lumpy and the linen didn't cover the mattress all the way. I usually check for bedbugs right away but the darker fabric must've hid the signs. Pool hours limited so did not get to use. Ok for one night but not worth the price for the bedbugs.

The room was miniscule, not at all suitable to be classed as a 'standard double'. The bathroom door, when opened, was only centimetres away from the bottom of the bed. Really should be a single room. The pillows were hard and lumpy. It was quite disappointing given that the last time that I stayed there I had a really large room with high ceilings. Ask to stay in the main part of the hotel and not the back because it really is not comparable.

Excellently located with plenty of facilities this is a lovely classic hotel. Large clean room and excellent value. The staff in the bar and dining room were very helpful and friendly - especially as my partner is gluten free. Great palce from which to explore Buxton and the Peaks.

Spacious room with newly refurbished bathroom with walk in shower. Majestic hotel so close to town centre. Lovely atmosphere in bar and dining room with great carvery food. Polite and helpful staff. Excellent stay.
