The Hotel is walking distance from Stirling Castle and has easy parking which is great. There are lots of dining options within walking distance as well. The pool was great for a dip after a day out. However the room where breakfast is served was very hot and stuffy and the breakfast was pretty ordinary. Ran out of scrambled eggs! Overall a fantastic place to stay in Stirling.

Room was clean and tidy. Breakfast had numerous options. We went back to the hotel for our wedding anniversary and there was a nice card and chocolates for us in the room which was a lovely, personalised touch. The bar didn’t have any of the beer pumps on and we had to pay extra to use the spa facilities which we didn’t have to do previously. Would still return as the hotel is right in the centre and overall a great stay.

The exterior of the property is beautiful and the staff are very helpful and polite. Unfortunately the stay was let down by old room interiors, combined with dirty appliances (blowdryer was covered in hair) and broken appliances (iron fell apart when used. Sadly wouldn’t recommend compared to other hotels of the same calibre.

The receptionist Eilidh was a star! She went over and above with providing amazing customer service by spending ages trying to locate a room we wanted. Well done Eilidh. She is a credit to the hotel.

Faulty towers without the comedy.

Outside of the building is lovely and old that's about all it's going for it, the youth hostel next door also has that. - Shower came with bonus mould. - Carpet’s so grim you’ll cling to your socks/shoes like a liferaft. - TV dates back to dial-up era. Viewing angle? Somewhere between yoga pose and neck cramp. - Didnt book a joining room, got one anyway. Turns out I also booked my neighbour’s, the corridor and the car park conversations for the evening. - Paid extra for a king bed. Got two singles. Just book the cheaper room and embrace the gap. - Advertised for 3 people. Still not sure where #3 is meant to sleep—maybe under the existential dread. - Castle view? Only if you lean out the window and imagine really hard. I got the car park symphony. - Reception Staff lovely, then manager offered a refund—but only via another manager who exists exclusively in writing. - £10/night for parking. Weekly discount? As mythical as the third bed. For a third of the cost got a proper room elsewhere minus the old exterior.

Comfortable, basic, no AC

The hotel is charmingly situated in an old high school and they’ve re-used the space to their benefit. It’s very picturesque. But it needs updating. The rooms need mini splits because they get so stuffy. It was lovely and cool outside but none of that could get into the room. The bed was comfortable and the room was basic.

Misinformation on the dinner package.

I'd book this hotel again as it is family-friendly hotel. Amenities are very good. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. Location is perfect. Only negative issue is the mould on the ceiling bathroom in our room. Then we've added dinner on booking and the information we were provided is that there is £35 to spend per adult for dinner but they didn't state that drinks are not included on this. So we had to pay for our drinks separately. Should we have known about it we could have maximise the £35 on food.

Historic High School Hotel

In an old high school which was used from 1860s to 1960s, then served as a archives for 30 years and now converted to a hotel. It’s a cool building with a working planetarium which you may not find at any other hotels in the UK. The gym is wonderful – really outstanding with a pool, racquetball court, large workout room with weights and machines. Lots of parking. Close walk to the castle at the top of the hill or the downtown shops and restaurants below. Downside is the rooms, hallways, and bathrooms are pretty shabby and you can’t open the windows much to get in fresh air. The beds are adequate and clean. Good location for a night stay to see the local sights.
