It's located 850 kilometres to the west of Tokyo, the capital city of Japan.

Scan the horizon for ships among the salty sea air at Momochi Beach or Iwaya Beach.

Head out of Ashiya and you'll see some picturesque natural sights. Just 45 kilometres away, Nokonoshima Island Park is a splendid spot to get out into the fresh air. Another sugggestion is Hiraodai, 25 kilometres away from Ashiya.

We can't find any accommodations in Ashiya itself, so you might just have to travel a little futher afield. Mizumaki, 5 kilometres away, is the nearest place with accommodation. Choose between the Hotel Crown Palais Kitakyushu and Comfort Hotel Kurosaki and you're sure to get that decent night's sleep you're hoping for.
