Super friendly receptionist made me feel right at home, offered me an early check-in plus a room upgrade - really unexpected but such a kind gesture. Super clean room, decent Nespresso coffee machine in the room, great shower - and most importantly - a great location.

The room was spacious and very clean. The staff was very helpful. Only complaint, which is out of their control, the is no elevator. It was a one stoy walk up to get to check in and two more stories to get to the room. I didn't see that listed on the site, and it was a bit of a surprise.

Hotel van Gelder has a nice location, clean hotel, they have a nice comfy room! It's just be careful with the stairs, they dont have lift so when you have heavy luggage or bulky luggages its going to be a little tough. Hotel van Gelder's stairs are a little steep and small, I have a US size 9 women shoes I have to angle my foot on its side. If you are a senior, its going to be tough with the stairs. But overall, amazing and beautiful place. Will book the same hotel when I get the chance to get back st Amsterdam!

The staff was courteous and friendly. They went out of their way to help us with every question and need that arose. The lounge area provided a great space for game-playing as well as offering an array of games and books. Cleanliness was top-notch!
