The bed was tiny. My head and feet touched the walls. The shower drain was clogged. I couldn’t run the shower for more than a minute without flooding the room. The Staff’s solution was to give me more towels. So I was unable to shower for the night I was there. When I asked for a discount on the room, no one present had the authority to do that, but said the manager would contact me. That never happened. Location was great. Lots of attractions were walkable.

Walking distance to train station and all public transit locations. Plenty of restaurants around the area, some tourist attractions are nearby. Clean room and helpful staff. Very enjoyable stay.

Great location we were able to walk with our luggage to the hotel from the central train station residential lots of sites to see in the core downtown area. Unfortunately, you need to book way ahead for van Gogh and Anne Frank. A great place to experience everybody, friendly and helpful.

An Amsterdam adventure

Perfectly adequate place to stay: clean, affordable and fabulous location a short walk from the Central Station and with a tram stop right out front. My bed was comfortable. I understand there was some street noise from the rooms facing the street, but mine was facing an interior courtyard. There's a breakfast for 15 euro and an Illy coffee shop a short walk away.

Room compact but very functional. Room on side street - incredibly noisy at night. Staff (except for Milo) Very inflexible. Wanted to change pd breakfast 1 day ahead. Original answer no - our system doesn’t allow it. Had 2 back to back reservations - they made us check out, store our luggage and wait til pm to check back in again even though the next room was ready and right beside the 1 we checked out of!! Never experienced this in all our travels. Check in staff need customer service training - no common sense.

Excellent hotel

Absolutely perfect location in the heart of the city. Within a 15 min walk of everything you would want to do downtown. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Offered to hold our luggage the day of departure free of charge.

Lovely hotel break

I was weary after seeing so many bad reviews, but I really enjoyed our stay. Arrived early and the hotel checked us and and stored our bags while we went out, they also kept them after checkout as our flight want until the evening. Room was clean and tidy, only little thing was I the coffee sachets had burst and maybe hadn’t been changed from the previous guests. Small but all that you need for such a central location. Shower was a space saving one so the water did get on the bathroom floor, but we stuck a few towels at the bottom of the doors and it stopped leakage. Beds were very comfortable, but our double was two separate beds pushed together, no issue for us though. So close to everything, would definitely stay here again!

Worth the value. Amsterdam is expensive. The avenue hotel is clean and has a great location. I’ve now stayed there twice. The staff (from desk reception to room cleaner) were always polite and wore a smile. I’m going back to AMS in another 8 weeks and will definitely look at the Avenue

Property was approx. 300m walk from central train station so very convenient. Rooms small but ok when you are out all day. No coffee/tea making facilities in the room. Buffet breakfast pretty good. Lots of lovely restaurants, supermarket and stores well within walking distance. Only downside was we arrived at 2pm, checkin was 3pm, they said our room was ready but we'd need to pay 5euro to access it early! Other than that we enjoyed our stay.
