Don't even think of heading home without stopping at a few of the region's incredible rural landscapes, beaches, coastal plains and mountains. History museums are also worth a look around. Those with a good appetite for adventure can also enjoy a little snowboarding here.

Sitting 95 kilometres from Alice is Ballina, a regional hub with a population of 14,000. It's where you'll find some sweet attractions, like Shelly Beach, Lighthouse Beach and the Ballina Golf Club.
