Had a warm welcome from moncef at reception upon landing and checking into the hotel and have been upgraded to a suite by Ikram given some problems I had with my room. Thanks to both and the rest of the team for making my stay all the more convenient and enjoyable. Some of the facilities like the racket sport and gym were not available at the time of my stay. The hotel could do with some variety to the buffet breakfast as I’d got tired of having the same thing every morning. Otherwise well maintained clean rooms / suites, nice indoor swimming pool and spacious green garden to lounge at. Above all thanks to the really helpful staff!

Great experience

At PortoBay Blue Ocean we stayed 6. Nights. From start of check in to our last stay all staff were very friendly, from front desk, food service and housekeeper. We general manger, Fernando who is extremely friendly, regardless of how busy he is, he still find time to speak with us. Special thanks to Nuno for checking is in and greeting is everytime he sees us. Gabriela, thank you for giving us tips and pointers on where to explore. Thank you for foing out of your way for booking last minute excursions for us. Your commitment to customer service is superb! Thank you Tina our server, always greet us with a smile and offering tips of which wine to serve every evening. And Raynara, your friendly personality always brings a smile to every guests. Such a friendly place. We will definitely return. The food is superb at every meal. Salads are fresh, fruits are delicious, can't say enough.

Room was clean staff was friendly and helpful and great amenities

we were very disappointed in our room. Our "resort view" was a patch of dirt. When I asked of a different room I was told there were none available, despite have booked months in advance. The room itself, while nice and comfortable, had multiple maintenance issues - a lamp where the electric cord literally fell out, the bathroom sink was missing a diffuser causing water to splash all over us when turned on, a shower that would drip after turning it off, and a hair dryer that would not stay on. Beyond the room, which most of the staff were delightful, we were frustrated when we went down to the beach late on a beautiful afternoon only to have the cushions on our chairs literally taken at 6:00. The next day when we went back we found we needed to pay 50 Euros for the chairs we sat in, something not mentioned in the literature or when we checked in. We had stayed previously at the Epic Sana Lisboa hotel in Lisbon, and were delighted at every turn by how attentive and caring the staff were, and how well maintained the property was. So we had high expectations about the "5-Star" Epic Sana Algarve. Not to be. I think they rely on location and setting than actually providing 5-star service. That's too bad, because it is a beautiful place.
