The Hashidate Bay Hotel and Monjusou are your best options if you intend to stay within close reach of the main areas.

If you're still looking for a place to stay and aren't satisfied with your options, you could try the Seikiro Ryokan Historical Museum Hotel or the Plaza Hotel Maizuru. The first is 9 kilometres away, while the second is 25 kilometres away. Cover your bases by also checking out the Miyazu Royal Hotel, 13 kilometres away.

Toyooka is another place where you can sit back and order up room service like a boss. Located 25 kilometres west of Yotsutsuji, it's where you'll discover the Izushi Karo Yashiki and the Ito Kiyonaga Art Museum. The Auberge Toyooka 1925 and Toyooka Sky Hotel are a few of the long and short-stay options here. Or, you could consider staying in Shinonsen, 55 kilometres to the west of Yotsutsuji, where you can pick from the Yukai Resort Yumura Onsen Miyoshiya and Asanoya. If you're staying in Shinonsen, be sure to explore Kebi Oike Park Bungalow Village and the Shofukuji Temple.

Otsu is 90 kilometres from Yotsutsuji and has a population of 300,000. When you're in the region, you'd be crazy if you didn't take a trip to Pieri Moriyama Mall, the Sagawa Art Museum and the Mizunomori Water Botanical Garden. If you decide to hang out for a while, continue on and check out the vibe at Lake Biwa Bridge and the Lake Biwa Museum. There is a good number of available hotels in Otsu, with the Biwako Ryokusuitei and Biwako Hotel coming in at the top of the list.
