You may also like to try The Landis Taichung (Hotel ONE Taichung), which you'll find 30 kilometres away. Or otherwise you might prefer the Mirage Hotel, just a distance of 30 kilometres from Xihu. Lugu is 40 kilometres away from Xihu and has a population of 20,000. When you're there, you'd be crazy if you didn't have a squiz at National Fonghuanggu Bird Park, NTU Experimental Forest and Shima Park. The Bamboo Art Cultural Hall and the Lugu Tea Culture Center are a few more which are sure to offer up some choice photo ops. Lugu has places to stay that should suit most tastes and budgets, including the Leader Hotel Chi-tou and The Chitou Lemidi Hotel.

On the plane? Going to pieces cos you haven't got accommodation at the other end? Don't stress! Chances are you'll be able to score a room at the Rhine Castle Hotel. It's pretty close to Taichung Airport, which is 35 kilometres from Xihu's centre.
