Located in Packwood, Cowlitz River Lodge is a 5-minute walk from Backbone Lake Trail and 5 minutes by foot from White Pass Sports Hut.
The place was perfect. The only mistake was booking it through Hotels.com.

Located in Packwood, Crest Trail Lodge is within a 5-minute drive of Gifford Pinchot National Forest and Backbone Lake Trail.
Stopped for the night before heading to Rainier the next day. Clean room, comfy beds & blankets, nice hot shower.. all that we needed for a one night stay really. Though there is no elevator, if that’s something you’re needing (we didn’t need, but good to know).

I loved this place, it was perfect and the staff are very friendly.
