I chose this hotel for its great location, spacious rooms, and 4-star rating — and while some expectations were met, the overall experience was disappointing. Check-in was delayed despite a confirmed Expedia reservation, and we were given rooms on different floors, contrary to what was promised. Throughout our four-day stay, we faced repeated issues: calls for basic amenities like tea bags and paper cups, used towels not being replaced, and long waits for any service. The ice machine on the 8th floor didn’t work, and we were never offered the complimentary wine coupons or restaurant discount. The rooftop restaurant, a big draw for us, was closed to guests and only open for private events. When asked, the front desk said it stays closed due to liability concerns — so why advertise it as a feature? The staff was kind and wanted to help, but clearly constrained. Overall, the series of small but persistent issues left a bad taste, and we’ll be booking elsewhere next time.

Pleasantly surprised at the Banneker.

Rooftop lounge as pictured in Hotels.com were closed and reserved only for paid events. This was not mentioned in the hotel description. The mattress might be too hard for side sleepers. Water pressure could be better, and we were annoyed by the half glass-no door shower design: either you shower with less pressure or you wet the floor too much. Either way, you end up splashing water on the floor. Daily housekeeping is a Plus, but one day, only one towel was left. To share? The toilet seat cover is a slow close, another Plus. There’s a rob, clothes steamer, yoga mat, and umbrella! Wine hour at 5pm daily is awesome. Breakfast at Le Sel was pricey, but we got those free from Hotels.com. The lobby staff were ALL GREAT!! Very welcoming! Location is ideal, but not so much walkable to restaurants. We felt very safe, no homeless, no crimes. Overall, the hotel is above average, and worth the price tag. I would highly recommend this location, and I definitely would come back.

Fantastic location, within the Diplomatic Enclave so extremely safe. The beds are very comfortable, sheets and pillows are virtually new and plush. Bathrooms are super modern and shining. The best part about this place is its staff, forever smiling, helpful, graceful and going out of their way to make your stay both memorable and comfortable... even at 2am in the morning. Highly recommended and will come back to stay again.

The hotel was very nice with the exception of bad lighting especially in the bathroom - we did tell the hotel at check out and were informed that the hotel is beginning renovations in a few weeks. Beds are comfortable - there is traffic noise from street at night so if you aren't used to city life this may be difficult for a light sleeper. Happy hour is a nice perk prior to going out for dinner.

I liked everything about this hotel; the staff, the aesthetics, the amenities, the price. One caveat is that while I very much approve of the fact that there is a minimum of overhead lighting I wish the standing lights were shaded and easier on the eyes . For people who read real books and papers etc. real reading lights would be a vast improvement.

Beautiful hotel, spacious rooms. The staff were amazing especially when my husband needed emergency dental treatment, they went above and beyond to help us. The food at Le Sel was delicious both breakfast and dinner and the nightly wine hour is fab! Would definitely stay again!

This was a beautiful building, filled with mediocre staff. When I arrived at 11 PM, I arrived to a room that had a failed refrigerator. I also didn’t have a working phone in the room with which to call the front desk. The food I traveled with was ruined, and my medicine hit room temperature. Not great. When I brought it to the attention of staff, they offered to let me use their refrigerator, but they did NOT repair the one in my room. I then had a booklet fall behind the air conditioning unit in the room. I asked the front desk staff to send maintenance up to fish it out. They did not. The only trash can in the room was in the bathroom, which is not great for a family of four. I would have liked one in the room itself. The shower was dirty. Here is the thing- the hotel was nice. I liked the bedding, and the big, easy to notice stuff was well done, but the details were lacking, and the staff was glad to say yes to your face, and then not do what they were asked to do. I was billed a $25 a day service fee, and for that price, I would have expected to receive some actual service from the staff.

Our stay was ok. The staff ended up doing the right thing and moved us out of our first room into two adjacent rooms. The first room was strangely equipped. The new rooms we were given were very nice. The hotel was oversold and that put a lot of pressure on the front desk staff ( and for some of them it showed). Lobby floor could use a thorough cleaning.

We did have a room confusion situation but the staff was so attentive and looked after our needs. They offered us a free breakfast to improve the experience. I will definitely be staying at a klimpton property again.
