Pool was brilliant +jacuzzi +sauna +hotroom
Super breakfast
Rooms a little tired
We had along trek to our rooms one of which didn’t have the third bed as requested z bed did arrive a little late
Overall good value because of its position on the lake easy access to steamers and the train
Loved the view of the lake from our room. Breakfast was freshly made, lots of choices. Our room was a bit dated and in need of modernisation, but was clean and spacious .

Beautiful location. Room size good. But for the cost of the room i expected better. Our room was old and in need of refurb. Wallpaper was peeling and there was mould and watermarks. Bed was on a downward slope at the head of bed. No air con but there was a fan. No room fridge so you couldnt keep any water cold.
Stay came with breakfast which was good. We ate at both restaurants during our stay.
Limited menu and very expensive.
This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel and it was as enjoyable as the first stay. Staff very friendly, happy to accomodate any request, within reason. Very quite despite being very busy, great views of the lake and great location. Windermere Lake Cruises almost on the door step for getting out and about . Plenty of choice for breakfast and very good.

This was a lovely stay in a beautiful location with access to boat rides and steam train. From here we visited Keswick, Ambleside and other towns in the Lake District including a must visit to Beatrix Potter’s house Hilltop. The hotel itself does feel a bit dated. The hotel room lacks the usual facilities of a four star hotel like no air con, no fridge and limited plug sockets. The hotel provided us with a plug adapter and fridge upon request ( for medication storage) which was incredibly helpful. The staff were mostly lovely but there was a lack of good management and attention to guests. I think this was due to chaotic arrangements rather than staff not caring. For example the restaurant (brasserie) had food left all over the floor under our table. Also we had soda put in our Pimms, and had to wait half an hour for someone to locate a bottle of vodka for our drinks!! Better management would mean a better stocked bar!! The staff outside at the Bluebird van were exemplary and very helpful. Shame that I got snapped at by a member of staff (bald head and beard!) when I asked when the van would open as I would like to order tea. I was clearly an inconvenience! Upon checkout I found the monies for our stay had been taken from my card before. Check Out which annoyed me and for which I received an apology. The lifts didn’t work when we arrived so that was difficult too. Overall though I would recommend a stay here. It’s a lovely view, simply beautiful.
Premises/ room and maintenance was of a good standard. Spa facilities were excellent and ladies providing treatments extremely friendly and accommodating
Breakfast was excellent and plentiful with friendly staff however evening meal in the brasserie was of a poor standard. The food choice was poor and tasteless with more batter on the fish than fish itself and the rest was not value for money.
As other restaurants were not close by we had no alternative but to drive out to eat elsewhere a lost revenue opportunity for the hotel in all other ways a lovely holiday.
The hotel is in a great position, right by the lake. Plenty of areas to sit out weather permitting. Staff are friendly and helpful as well as being efficient. Near by some of the attractions of the area i.e. boats and steam train. Would definitely visit again.
Faultless, all staff superb, friendly and efficient. Fantastic breakfast. Stunning surroundings. Only came for two nights and ready to book again. Rarely leave reviews as usually underwhelmed, but really happy to share what a beautiful hotel this is and how relaxed and friendly it is.
Loved the position of the hotel, quiet and very well run. Well maintaned and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, very good choice and service. We thought the meal in the Brasserie was a bit overpriced, and not the best choice. We had a lovely trip on the Lake upto Bowness and Ambleside and had our main meals there. Blessed by good weather we had a wonderful time.
All was good apart from the bed, thus the low mark for comfort, after mentioning it to staff we were given another room, which again was of excellent quality. We were delighted with all the staff in the hotel and its facilities
Very old style and smelly rooms not hot tub photos is warm swimming pool water is called massage bed out of order restaurant food is very expensive fish and chips up to £20 fish
Absolutely stunning hotel. Wonderful family memories made! We upgraded our room and it was beautiful. The pool was great, the boat trip, aquarium, boat hire…full fun packed weekend away.
We went for the standard room, and was not disappointed. The room was clean and a good size. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We ate in the restaurant, which was very busy, but good service and good food. Advice is to book a table in the restaurant when you book your stay to make sure you get the time you want. The pool and changing facilities were top notch, very pleased with the maintenance and cleanliness of all areas. We have stayed here before this visit and will be staying again!
