During its history it has been a defensive bastion, a majestic court, an administrative centre, a prison, a storehouse and a barracks. Nowadays the castle is a must visit tourist attraction in Finland. In the 1941 bombings the castle was left in ruins. After the end of the war restaurations began. Hotel was beautiful and clean. Staff very friendly. Beds are too small and protective plastic mattress cover is way noisy. Loved eveything except for the bed.

Nice overnight stay for a family. Kids room was a great place to play for younger kids and the breakfast was excellent.
