Today's the day you stop Googling cheap holidays and book that Touwu trip. While there aren't many opportunities to base yourself downtown, you'll find an awesome hotel a bit further out. Check out our 2 digs within 10 kilometres of Touwu's centre.

After a long day of exploring in the centre, crawl under the covers and into a comfy bed at Chusha Motel and Milunsun Motel.

You may also like to try the Fullon Hotel LihPao Land, which you'll find 35 kilometres away. Or otherwise you might prefer the Sheraton Hsinchu Hotel, just a distance of 30 kilometres from Touwu. If those ones don't float your boat, you might prefer to go with the Fleur Lis Hotel Hsinchu or the Miramar Hotel Hsinchiu.

Looking for more to do? Spend the day enjoying the Saisiyat Folklore Museum and the Yimin Temple. You'll find them in Nanzhuang, 11 kilometres to the east of Touwu. The Beautiful Landscape Resort and Fu Chuan Garden Homestay are some of the apartment and hotel options here. 12 kilometres to the north of Touwu you'll find Toufen, home to the Grand Royal Hotel and Maison de Chine Hotel Miaoli. Should you choose to stay in Toufen, set aside some time to visit Siangshan Wetland and the Ten Ren Tea Culture Museum.

You'll come across some awesome activities in Puli. Liyu Tan Lake Scenic Area, the BaoHu Temple and Chengte Foshan are up there with the best. This regional hub can be found 65 kilometres south of Touwu and has a population of 86,000. If you decide to hang out for a while, keep the good time rolling at the Geographic Center of Taiwan and Puli Town Night Market. On the plane? In a tizz cos you haven't got a place to stay at the other end? Don't stress! Chances are you'll be able to put your head down at the Novotel Taipei Taoyuan International Airport. It's pretty close to Taoyuan International Airport, which is 65 kilometres from Touwu's centre.
