Forgetting to turn up to your performance review is a pretty big sign that you need to get away. So why not step off the beaten track to Toma and immerse yourself in the charming coastal plains, forests and rivers of North Jeolla? (The only thing you'll need to remember is how to relax!)

It sits 200 kilometres southeast of Seoul, the national capital of South Korea.

Breathe in the fresh air and appreciate the natural surrounds of Gayasan National Park. It lies 25 kilometres away from Toma. You'll also discover some quiet time at Deogyu-san National Park, 13 kilometres away.

If you're the sort of traveller who loves experiencing the true local vibe of the area you're visiting, Gumi Civil Stadium is one for your must-visit list. Check what live games are on during your holiday and roar along with excited local sports fans. You'll find the venue 50 kilometres away in Gumi.

If you're thinking about venturing outwards, head 14 kilometres west to Muju. This is where you'll come across Deogyusan Resort and the Anguksa Temple. We also suggest heading to Gimcheon, 25 kilometres to the northeast, for Gimcheon World Porcelain Museum and the Jikjisa Temple.

You may feel the urge to book a room in Jinan for a while. This destination is 40 kilometres to the west and quite close to the Tapsa Temple, the Eunsusa Temple and Maisan Hwaeomgul Cave. Other nearby sights are Maisan Mountain and Mt.Maisan.

After something to get your heart pumping? For a fun and memorable journey through the surrounding landscape, sign yourself up for some tobogganing or mountain climbing.

Ask one of the locals for some food suggestions and bibimbap (sautéed vegetables on rice) will probably be the first thing they point you to. Jeonju bibimbap (sautéed vegetables on rice) is another typical regional food you might like to take a bite out of.

We don't think you'll need too much persuading to take a bite of bungeo-ppang (red bean filled pastry), a sweet treat that'll make you want to sever all ties and settle down here forever.

Good news, beer aficionados. You'll discover some lip-smacking brews to throw back here. Chill out with a glass of Prime Max in a cosy bar and be sure to text your mates back at home, 'Wish you were beer'.
